car stereo review Tropic of Cancer ebook

Tropic of Cancer ebook

Henry Miller is not popular with the academic community. I think this is because there is nothing for academics to do with his books. Henry says what Henry means, there really is no need to interpret his meaning. So don't be scared off just because your instructors never mention this book. It's meant to be enjoyed outside the confines of institutions such as college anyway. Henry's point of view is the man in the street. Sometimes(most of the time) he is dealing with very basic issues like food(mostly where the next meals coming from) and sex which he likes to have often. Henry is a man perhaps limited to a few appetites but that is why he is fun to hang out with. He enthuses you with his own enthusiasms. He can be funny, depressing, and surprisingly poetic in his visions which may have been brought on by hunger or drink or just desperation to have a vision. I think the same audience that likes Kerouac will like Miller. Kerouac is also dismissed by the academy and the higher circles of learning but who cares. Both tell pretty straightforward tales about themselves trying to live the way they want. They should be read for no other reason than for the pure enjoyment they give. The movie Henry Miller(Henry and June) I think is a great character but not the Henry I know. The Henry that is narrating Tropic of Cancer is desperate and spilling over with words that are sometimes heartbreakingly honest. The movie Henry is more like a loveable clown which Henry did become later in life. Other books by Henry Miller are also very enjoyable. My favorites: The Colossus of Maroussi(about a visit to Greece), The Air-Conditioned Nightmare(travels in U.S.) and Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymos Bosch(about his life in that N. California idyllic spot). Read and enjoy. Screw the academy.

Beautiful artwork and a great story

trailer Genghis Khan Illustrated Biography Demi

Genghis Khan Illustrated Biography Demi

Demi's "Genghis Khan" is a beautifully illustrated book depicting the life of the Great Khan.

The book is done in the style of medieval Timurid and Islamic histories. The artwork is exquisite, encompassing gold inlays contrasted with watercolors and detailed but elegant drawings. The illustrations themselves could tell the story alone.

Demi's book tells the story of a young Mongol named Temujin and his rise to become Genghis Khan, conqueror and ruler of the greatest land empire history has known. Written for school age kids, the text is simple and does not shy away from the harsh life of Genghis and the Mongols. It depicts Temujin's killing of his brother Bekter for stealing food (as the rest of the clan starved in exile) matter-of-factly. The author does not shy away from the reality of the Mongol conquests, depicting scenes of siege and warfare, but it is stated and then the story moves on to the next.

"Genghis Khan" is a great introduction to the man and the legend. This is the type of book that will fire kids' imagination and get them reading.

Architec Gripper Cutting Board 14 Inches

Admittedly, I pretty much do whatever Cooks Illustrated tells me to do, and they told me to buy this, so I did, but this is a darn fine cutting board. It's the perfect size for chopping up vegetables, meat-based products, the fingers of people who owe you money, practically anything. Also, the orange color goes with my beach-house themed kitchen. I don't have a dishwasher or any other sort of fancy appliance since I live in New York City and apparently we're not allowed to have things like that even though it's commonplace in every other city in every other even mildly developed country in the entire world, so I won't know if it's dishwasher safe until I hit the lottery or sell a screenplay or something like that. All I know is it's heavy and compact at the same time and it stands its ground while placed on the paltry amount of surface space of what passes for cabinets in my microscopic kitchen.

Most character shoes are hideously ugly, but this one looks nice. Although my ankle has a torn ligament, the shoe feels very sturdy especially when the dance requires balance on one foot. I have a nice pair of ballroom dance shoes that I considered using for the performance, but I couldn't do one of the one-foot hopping steps in them. I need more stability for that bad ankle. But I can do it with the character shoes. Also the wide heal makes them easy so stand in during rehearsals.

The shoes do run a bit small, but not unusual for dance shoes. I wear a size 5 street shoe, a 2 1/2D in point shoes, and 2 1/2 in ballroom shoes. I purchased a 5 1/2 after reading the reviews that the shoes run small and the size is about right. I would not go bigger and if I had ordered a size 5, I believe they would've fit enough to use although a little tightly. I do not find the shoes to be too narrow even with my D size.

I do find that the straps need another opening. (Perhaps the size 5 straps would've fit more snug) And I have high arches so ideally I'd like more arch support. I was hoping that with the 3" heel the shoe arch would touch my foot as it does with my 3" ballroom shoes, but it does not. The 3" heel and the shape of the shoe makes legs and feet look good.

The color is good, soft and muted. During rehearsals, the other dancers asked where I had gotten the shoes.

I've been using Turbo Tax for 5 years now and it hasn't let me down. I'm your typical single middle class worker with no children and fairly big student loan debt. I don't make or spend enough to benefit from itemized deductions and I my lifestyle is too normal to benefit from any of those fancy tax credits out there. But every year there's some random one-time-only tax credit that I qualify for and Turbo Tax always finds it. The credit usually increases my return more then the cost of the software, so it's a good investment. I usually get my returns within the week when I do direct deposit. Another thing I love is that it breaks down every step of the process into laymen's terms so you know exactly what you're asked to put in. Some might find this process a little slow, but its very helpful. Plus it saves all your info so that next years tax returns can be filled out faster.

printed pencil skirt review Etiquette Espionage Finishing School Carriger

Etiquette Espionage Finishing School Carriger

Like Harry Potter at Hogwarts, when Sophronia Temminnick enters Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality she is an outsider. The other girls have inherited their placements at the school and have known all their lives they would be attending, but Sophronia never knew a floating academy with instruction in both etiquette and espionage existed until she rode through its doors on the back of one of her new professors, a proper Victorian werewolf who is nonetheless capable of leaping high enough to reach the school's drifting campus. Fortunately, Sophronia's lack of experience in spy-work and intrigue is compensated for by her skill at discovering and making ingenious use of opportunities.

This first book in Gail Carriger's new series is set twenty years earlier than the Parasol Protectorate, but it's in the same paranormally enhanced Victorian England and I'm thrilled that younger versions of some of the characters from those previous books have prominent roles. There are a lot of mechanical descriptions of the steampunk aspects of the story--robotic servants on tracks and the structure of floating academy--which got me off to a little bit of a slow start with the book, but very soon I was captivated by the delights of its charming characters, elaborate plot, and witty banter.

End Storm The Saga ebook

It's not to often that I get to read anymore, and when I do, I like for the book that I'm reading to be able to take me away from all the burdens of day to day life... and that's exactly what End Storm did!

Not since the Harry Potter series have I been so immersed in a story. The action began from the very first page and it didn't stop until the very last. I was literally on the edge of my seat (urmm...bed) for the majority of the book. At one point I actually got kind of scared, and that's when I knew I was DEEP into it.

End Storm is a story about a catastrophic event that may or may not be the cause of several humans morphing into zombie-like creatures. It's told from the third person perspective at a pace that can only be defined as exceptional, and it is filled with a very diverse range of well developed characters. And I don't mean that likely. I actually disliked the two main characters for my own altruistic reasons, but I couldn't help feeling sorry for them and the situations they kept being thrown into.

All in all End Storm is an amazing story written by an amazing new author and fans of AMC's The Walking Dead, fans of Left for Dead, fans of Dead Island, or fans of horror and zombies in general will love this book. I know I did!

Another very useful book by Cardona

kitchen sinks Flare Star Dwardu Cardona

Flare Star Dwardu Cardona

Flare Star by Dwardu Cardona is essential reading for anyone interested in geology, archeology, paleontology or the recent history of the Solar System. He correlates information from astronomers, geologists, plasma scientists and from comparative mythologists to demonstrate that they use different methods but come to many similar conclusions. He notes several known problems in science that are not often stressed outside the scientific community. He then provides possible explanations to the problems with one basic assumption concerning the original plasma environment around Earth. The references alone are worth the price of the book. The references are especially good in case you want to pose difficult to explain questions (privately of course) for your professors. Although Cardona's God Star was first in the series, it seems to me that a reader would not be lost starting with Flare Star. They complement each other and both are very important books.

Overall, this is a great telescope for the price. I've been able to find things I wasn't able to find previously, like the Andromeda Galaxy, Hyades, Perseus Cluster etc.. The NexStar alignment procedures are a little tricky for newbies like me, I had to research other people's experiences with Celestron NexStar telescopes and be patient. It is very important to level the telescope properly, put in the correct latitude and time (Standard vs. Daylight savings). I would recommend using both internal batteries and some kind of external power source just in case. Once I was able to align the telescope, it worked as advertised, and aligned very accurately. I verified the alignment several times by going to known objects like the Moon or Jupiter or the Orion Nebula. Some photography is possible with this telescope, I'm still working on using the Wedge feature for greater tracking precision. Again, great telescope, sturdy tripod mount, and extensive deep sky object database, I'm happy so far.

ring Texas Wide Open ebook

Texas Wide Open ebook

I just read TEXAS WIDE OPEN by KC Klein. I am still wiping tears off my cheeks. This is the BEST BOOK I have read this year. NO question. I'm a romantic suspense author and my tastes run toward, well, romantic suspense obviously, and paranormals. But KC is a friend so I figured I would read this contemporary romance to be nice. I'm so glad I did. Honestly, I had reservations - because it's not a genre I typically enjoy. And, it skips back and forth in time, showing what happened in the past then what's happening in the present. I thought it would be a chore reading back and forth in time. Instead, I found myself marveling at KC's brilliance. The way she wove in what happened and juxtaposed it against current day was exactly the way this story should have been told. It was an incredibly clever way to keep building tension by revealing bits and pieces of backstory. I loved the hero and heroine and the secondary love story was wonderful as well. This story is gut-wrenchingly emotional. If you don't cry at least once, something is wrong with you. Seriously. I absolutely loved it. And I do have to add a plug for how she handled the setting. I know nothing about Texas and very little about horses. KC wove such unique, interesting elements of both into the story that I really felt like I was there, in Texas, on a horse ranch. I highly recommend this book. It's just an absolutely wonderful love story. My only complaint is that I didn't want it to end!

Mr Blue Sky Electric Orchestra

4.20.13:
I wasn't sure what to expect, as I paid 1/5 the price of one at Verizon. the case is exactly as described. The blue is dead-on with my GS3. Feels sturdy, I like the soft but firm material very much.
Those who say the top and bottom aren't protected are somewhat mistaken. the top and bottom of the case back is flush with my phone so it would take the brunt of a fall. Also, not that it would be much protection, the flip door is bigger than the phone, so it is fully covered.
I'll update this review in a while, but I don't expect any problems. I love this flip case!

UPDATE 4.28.13:
Still looks and feels new. Nothing splitting, nothing coming apart/unglued, and I'm not gentle with my phone. One thing to keep in mind, the description says "one cad holder"...PAY ATTENTION to that notice. I put a second card in for one day and when I went back to one card, it still stays put mostly, but moves around more than I'd like.
This is TOTALLY NOT a product flaw! I didn't pay attention to this notice clearly stated in the description. Oh well, I like the orange one anyway, now I have an excuse to buy more! Still a five star product...especially at this price!

Spiritual Sky Incense Sticks Champa

This scope is extremely sharp through all ranges of the zoom lens which is 22x through 67x. You need a very sturdy tripod to use it, though, because of it's high magnification. With the PROPER NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTER I watched the transit of Venus on June 5. The tiny "finder" tube works, but do not use to aim at the sun! Use the shaddow. Focusing is easy and precise and the magnification allowed the image to fill most of the lens. A 500mm lens provides only a small image of the moon, but this scope fills the lens and you can make out lots of detail, even seening just the top of mountains that are hidden in deep shaddow. Attach a camera and get super photos.
Don't ever look at the sun direct or ever look through binoculars or telescope at the sun. If you do you won't ever see anything again, your eye will be burned to a cinder.!

Pie Sky Josh Charles

There's a lot I want to compliment the author regarding this book, but I don't know where to start. It's one of those books that leaves you mulling over what you just read as the ending seems to arrive too soon. As a reader, you want to stick around; you want to see where the author goes from here. He's bared so much of his soul to you, sparing none of the visceral, gritty details, that you feel a kinship - a friendship formed. In a way, I felt like Dr. Stevens at the end of this book (he's a character near the latter parts), watching from a distance the journey of a heroin addict as he struggles and fights his way to sobriety.

As a memoir, this is an undoubtedly amazing one. The prose is solid, and there's an inherent beauty to it too. It's like watching a single, solitary snowflake glide down from the sky up close as some sort of devastating mushroom cloud erupts in the background. Beauty in a dark world teeming with disease and shady characters.

The author, as I mentioned, spares no details. He's upfront and honest. He tells us the things we're itching to know, and he tells us the things we'd shy away from - the hard, cold realities of what addiction can do to an individual. We get both the fantasy and the sludge at the bottom of the gutter. It's this combination of beautiful prose and blunt honesty that reels the readers in. We trek through this muck, sometimes unwillingly, with him, hoping (praying) that there's a lit torch at the end of this dark voyage, that everything will be okay.

This book really resonates with the reader on a deeply personal level. That said, I feel this is a must read, and it'll stick with you. I know I won't forget it.

Epson WorkForce Smartphone Compatible C11CC31201

In February, I received and reviewed the Epson WorkForce 845 Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner, Fax, iOS/Tablet/Smartphone/AirPrint Compatible (C11CB92201), a great printer. I received and am now reviewing the Epson WorkForce WF-3540 Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer, Copier, Scanner, 2-Sided Duplex, ADF, Fax. Prints from Tablet/Smartphone. AirPrint Compatible (C11CC31201), another great printer which incidentally also uses the 126 or higher capacity 127 series Epson ink cartridges. If you purchase this printer, as of today, it's not listed in the ink cartridge finder at Amazon. I'm confident that will be corrected shortly as more units are sold. As much as I liked the WF 845, I am in love with the new WF 3540, and not only because it's younger, but because it was up and running in a matter of minutes without a single glitch. Both printers are fast, hold 500 sheets of paper, and produce fine copies as well as printed sheets, but this one is perfect, even using a Mac. Epson Connect allows me to print and scan from anywhere, and I can email print directly to this printer from anywhere using its own personal email address! I've never had such ease in setting up and operating a wireless printer as this one. As outdated as Faxing is to many, I do have the need to Fax on occasion, and this is equally as easy to set up and operate. The screen is appealing, intuitive, bright, and the machine saves energy when not being used. Enclosed in the package is a phone cord and power cord, but if you intend to go wired, you'll need to supply your own USB cable. I set mine up without attaching a USB cable, yay! Being able to do 2-sided duplex printing from this inkjet printer is beyond great, and It' really quick speedy without being very noisy. My little Canon is actually noisier and definitely much slower, although it is very small and produces a beautiful photo print. This is a top notch printer for a home office, school, small business, home schooler, or anyone who has the space for a printer of this size. The cost of ink is lower, per page, than my Canon printer, and I buy genuine Epson ink cartridges because I've had awful experiences in the past with two printers using non original manufacturers cartridges or refilling with ink. Great printer.

The seller responded promptly to my email about the colors I wanted.
I received this about 4 weeks earlier than expected
The colors that are displayed is what the colors actually look like, the feel of the wallet is stiff, not top notch quality but it was a good price and will do the trick. My phone was able to fit even with the cover I have on it. I bought the blue with pink inside and the khaki with blue inside. The blue has a matte look and the khaki is a bit glossy. Overall I am happy with the product and would recommend it. The only con was that the clamp that attaches the strap to the wallet was very stiff and I had to press down on it very hard to open it. It looked frail and I thought it would break, but no.

Silent Reina Dessiner Mysteries ebook

This was my first ParkZone micro. I actually bought it as part of a RTF kit that Amazon doesn't stock anymore (or didn't when I wrote this review). This kit doesn't have a transmitter, so please be aware.

The plane is fully assembled in the box. You simply need to charge the battery, bind it to your 2.4Ghz Spektrum transmitter and you are basically ready to fly. Personally, I added some expo to the mixing to soften the feel of the plane, but keeping the full deflection of each control surface. Also added rudder mix to the ailerons to make nicer coordiated turns when being lazy and just flying the right stick (mode 2).

Flight times were well over 7 minutes on the original battery. I have purchased additional batteries from HK in China. They have 130mAh batteries that will allow for 8 - 10 minute flights with better power throughout. It does add a touch of weight, but not really an issue.

This plane will do most aerobatics (not 3D), but will slow nicely for touch and goes. I generally fly before I leave for work. I fly off the street in front of my home. Takeoffs are 3/4 power and level flight can be maintained at under 1/2 throttle. Full throttle is for getting out of trouble or for aerobatics, so not really used too much. I've been flying mine for about a year. The motor is just starting to show signs of wear and age. That's not bad for a coreless motor. Although I don't run her for hours on end, I'm very happy with the durabilty/longevity of the plane's hardware.

This is NOT A TOY. This is a full flying scale model. It will crash and break if you fly it without knowing what you are doing. Please take the time to learn to fly before jumping into this hobby. Best thing is to get a simulator and join a local flying club. Also, get yourself an AMA membership, it comes with a great magazine subscription and a million dollars of insurance (although flying in your front yard/street isn't covered).

Also, get yourself an AMA membership, it comes with a great magazine subscription and a million dollars of insurance (although flying in your front yard/street isn't covered).

wedge sandals review The Joshua Tree Remastered

The Joshua Tree Remastered

This is worth every penny. The remastering sounds nice, on both the Joshua Tree and B-sides disc.. It's finally nice to have a great sounding version of "Deep In The Heart."

The Bonus DVD disc is where it's at though. You get a concert and a mini tour diary/documentary that totally sheds another light on the Joshua Tree era U2. If you weren't a serious fan in 87 you more than likely assumed, from what you saw of them, that U2 took themselves too seriously and weren't really fun at all.

The concert shows U2 in a different light than how Rattle and Hum showed them on film. The mini tour documentary shows them having fun, and seeing this now is so wonderful.

This was a wonderful package and hopefully older albums will be remastered and presented in this manner as well. I sure hope the WAR album is next!

4 1/2 STARS ~ Excellent Science Fiction Film Hits the Mark!

mills review Oblivion Two Disc Combo Pack UltraViolet

Oblivion Two Disc Combo Pack UltraViolet

Over the course of the last few years, the science fiction genre of film has either provided major hits or complete misses. Depending on who's acting and who's directing, movie-goes appear to be fairly picky about which sci-fi films they're willing to spend their money on. In 2012, Prometheus took us back to the Aliens universe with critical and commercial success, while at the same time, Battleship and John Carter sank - ultimately drowning in a sea of misery. Speaking of sci-fi success, Tom Cruise has been a part of a handful of lucrative sci-fi endeavors, including Minority Report, Vanilla Sky, and War of the Worlds. Now, Tom Cruise is back once again with another pre-summer box office smash, Oblivion.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Lecacy), Oblivion stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, one of the few remaining survivors of the planet earth - half of which has been destroyed and deemed uninhabitable after a nuclear war with an alien species, known as Scavs (Scavengers). Harper, along with his partner and love interest, Victoria (Andrea Riseborough), are in charge of an operation to salvage and extract the last of earth's natural resources, prior to leaving earth and rejoining their fellow humans on a massive space station, called Titan. However, everything is not as it seems when Jack saves a woman, Julia (Olga Kurylenko) from the wreckage of a crash-landing - the same woman whom he has been having recurring memories and dreams. And, after making contact with the Scavs, Jack must uncover the secrets behind the organization for which he has been working and the reasoning behind his absent memory (which was mandatorily removed) . Morgan Freeman and Melissa Leo also star in supporting roles.

First and foremost, do not leave the theater when you see this film - and you absolutely should see this film. Oblivion is one of the films that will require your attention at all times, because it's extremely easy to miss a giant piece of the puzzle during a bathroom break or popcorn run. The film's plot is relatively easy to decipher by the conclusion of the film, however, there's more going on in this film that you can possibly interpret in one sitting. The introduction of the film crams a whole lot of information into your head to set up the present conundrum being tackled by Cruise's character, Jack Harper. Clearly, he's involved in a snatch-n-grab job, hastily attempting to remove earth's resources, while attempting to avoid any difficulties or interaction with the supposed villains, the Scavs. However, it's impossible to get specific about the majority of the film's plot points without spoiling the film.

Oblivion's cast is one of the most impressive features in this film and remains tremendously authentic from beginning to end in this enigmatic drama. Tom Cruise hasn't been this enjoyable in quite a long time and really finds his groove with his character. Reminiscent of the character from War of the Worlds, Jack Harper is mostly in the dark about the majority of the occurrences in this film and is often in over his head - yet somehow always manages to come out of each dire situation unscathed. On the other hand, his partner (Victoria) constantly finds new ways to be jealous in a world where she has absolutely no competition. At times, she can become an annoyance, but that's mostly due in large part to lack of her unwillingness to think outside the box (which is reserved solely for Tom Cruise's character). Finally, let's face the fact here - everything is better with Morgan Freeman.

By far and away, the most enjoyable moments of the film revolve around the CGI action sequences - which include some very intriguing and well-designed drones. These drones are the main agitators in a rather Empire Strikes Back-like flight batter which is also a nice flashback to Tom Cruise sitting in a cockpit in Top Gun. It's unclear whether or not the filmmakers meant to create a throwback sci-fi Top Gun-style chase scene, but regardless, this specific flight chase will have you wishing for a Top Gun sequel (which was sadly cancelled after the death of its original director, Tony Scott).

Overall, there's absolutely nothing in Oblivion that hasn't been done in some other sci-fi before it. Sure, it would be easy to say this is just another post-apocalyptic film with alien invaders, ultimately forcing humanity to unite for a greater good to defeat them. Yet, this film is much more complex than your average space-invaders film. It provides a busier (occasionally confusing) than usual plot (in Prometheus fashion), so if you look away, you'll most likely miss something important. But, if you play close enough attention to the plot points, you'll be able to tie everything together in a nice, pretty bow when the credits role - hopefully coming to the conclusion that Oblivion is a perfectly fun and enjoyable sci-fi film.

kitchen faucets review Essential Oils Midnight Oil

Essential Oils Midnight Oil

This compilation to a certain extent confirms the impression I had that the four albums that Midnight Oil released during 1987-1996 are their strongest, in terms of melodic songwriting.

Something happened with the sound of the band with the "Diesel and Dust" album from 1987. Producer Warne Livesey was brought in to produce, and this probably explains some of the change towards a more melodic approach, with more acoustic guitars. The album contained the great "Beds are Burning", which probably is the best known song with the band. Five songs form this great album have been picked out for this compilation which serves the compilers to honor. All my favourites from the are found here.

The next album "Blue Sky Mining" from 1990 was also produced by Warne Livesey and this is probably their strongest and most consistent. It's represented by four strongs here; but in my opinion "Bedlam Bridge" should have been included too.

"Earth and Sun and Moon" from 1993 was almost as strong, with great songs such as "In the Valley" and the title, which has been left here. The three songs from the album are all worthy representatives of a great album, which was produced by Rick Launay two of the early albums. Soundwise, though, the album comes close to the two predecessors.

"Breathe" from 1996 produced by Malcolm Burn is a quite different Midnight Oil album, which does not really sound very like any of the albums before or those that came after. It's a great album which really grows on you when you get to know it. Only one song has been chosen for this compilation, which is really a shame. "Surf's Up Tonight" is a great song, but songs like "Home" and E-Beat" are just as strong and at least one of more track should have selected.

I only know about the final three albums through the last five tracks on this release, and based on them, it appears that the group's last album, "Capricornia" cannot be ignored.

Among the early tracks I have only few favourites, among those Kosciusko" from "Red Sails in the Sunset" stands out.

Midnight Oil was a great band, and I won't hesitate to call at least four of their albums "classics"

I have recently purchased and watched this dvd. Do not be swayed by anyone who suggests this is a "double-dip" release from the BBC. I have both versions and have compared them. The original dvd version was released prior to the application of the VIDFIRE computer technology that is used now to restore all of the vintage Doctor Who stories. Therefore, there is a HUGE difference in the video quality between the first dvd version (2001) and this one. The difference is astonishing, all the more so if you could compare it to the unrestored version of this story originally released in VHS. The 2001 dvd does have a couple of bonus features which were not put on the current release, but most of them are there as well as many new ones. If you do not own this story yet, the current remastered dvd is clearly the one to get. If you already own the 2001 dvd, I urge you to get this new version as the improvement is remarkable. I am very glad I bought it, and now having had a chance to compare an original release to a remastered release, I will be buying the new versions of all of the vintage stories as they are issued. I was skeptical whether I should purchase, for example, the upcoming rerelease of THE SEEDS OF DEATH, but now I have no reservations whatsoever. The BBC is doing stellar work with this series. Buy with confidence.

Just...Wow

The Sky Used Blue ebook

Ever since Hugh Howey allowed others to play in the WOOL sandbox, silo stories have been surfacing pretty fast. I'm not sure how I got wind of this particular tale. Nevertheless, I'm glad I did.

This book takes place after disaster described in FIRST SHIFT (please read it first before biting into the lovely short story). If you've ever wondered how scores of people could just forget something ever happened and the truth not be passed down to others, this story gives you the basic recipe for forgetfulness. Of course, there are always a few who remember. Just don't let it be known that you remember, or you'll go 'splat'.

If you're a fan of WOOL and the SHIFT series, you're in for a treat when reading this one as the story is told from the eyes of one of its secondary, but important, characters. The author's style, though different, takes nothing away from the universe many WOOL fans have grown to love. If anything, this tale adds several ounces of power to the SHIFT series as it makes one imagine what could have been.

Please pick this up because the author is planning to release part 2 in May 2013. And from the sample provided at the end of this tale, it's something to look forward to.

It's a short story, but don't hate on it. Give it a try (but not before you've read WOOL and SHIFT books). Definitely worth more than $0.99.
