Warsaw Conspiracy James Conroyd Martin

"Author James Conroyd Martin...with the third installment of his 'Trilogy', 'The Warsaw Conspiracy' when now, added to his previous works: 'Push Not the River' and 'Against a Crimson Sky'...is clearly on his way to becoming a new, 'modern' Sienkiewicz of our times. You will be drawn in to a world that will be difficult to let go of, while learning more about a long-overlooked but valuable part of European History, that of Poland, a key lynchpin in the affairs involving All of Europe, as the struggle for power, freedom and liberty are constantly pulling this way and that. A true testimonial to the tenacity of the Polish people and their nation. GET this book! Get ALL his books! You won't be disappointed whatsoever!" -- Rik Suligowski Fox / Pioneer and first officially recognized representation of the Polish Winged Hussars in America.

  1. Award-Winning author and teacher, James Conroyd Martin delivers a riveting historical saga in the finale of a thrilling trilogy that began with 'Push Not The River.' However, "THE WARSAW CONSPIRACY" is a stand-alone novel, a gem in itself. One does not need to read the first two books in the trilogy to appreciate, and enjoy it. This enthralling tale introduces the reader to the era of the eighteenth century Poland with romance and intrigue, as we prepare to enter 'Against A Crimson Sky' where the author weaves colorful characters into the devastation of war and turmoil, in a world of hardship and sadness. James Conroyd Martin concludes this sweeping trilogy of Poland in "THE WARSAW CONSPIRACY" with fascinating heroines, military warriors, and gripping tension in a heartfelt story, made for the big screen. This incredible adventure once again takes us through the lives of Anna and Zofia as we witness hostility, struggle, violence, and heartbreak. The author brings you on a thrill ride with unstoppable action, edge-of-your seat suspense, and unforgettable characters in a breathtaking page-turner that the reader will ponder, long after this remarkable book is closed. "THE WARSAW CONSPIRACY" is a triumph in every aspect, is as brilliant as Lincoln, and as entertaining as Casablanca. Highly recommended!

  2. If you loved James Conroyd Martin's Push not the River and Against a Crimson Sky, I can assure you that this conclusion will not be a disappointment. Mr. Martin has swept us back into the year of 1830 during Poland's fight for independence from the ruthless Russians. The characters that the reader fell in love with in the first two books return with adventures of thier own.

After reading The Warsaw Conspiracy myself, I cannot praise Mr. Martin enough for his magnificent talent for writing such intriguing stories filled with love, and most importantly true patriotism and purpose. Another five stars for Mr. Martin.

  4. Like the preceding books, I could not put this one down. It may be my favorite of the three... Great detail is taken in developing the characters, who you cannot help but worry about. I enjoyed watching their life unfold, and learning more about the historic context in which the stories are set.

  6. This author makes Polish history come alive. Since my gg grandparents immigrated from Poland in 1855, I was extremely interested in learning of what they might have experienced while still in their homeland.
Learning of the different partitions of this small but fascinating country kept me interested in this entire series.

I would highly recommend this author and may read more of his historical books in the future.

  7. I found myself quite annoyed that work and family kept interrupting my time with The Warsaw Conspiracy. Very few sequels can keep my attention let alone engage me even more deeply as I continue reading. Martin's writing did both. He is a master writer, making great use of imagery and developing his plots in such a way that the reader is immediately pulled into the action and the story. Historical facts are used to enhance the story, not overburden it. Furthermore, each character is so genuine and well-developed that the reader will connect with them in their humanity and love some while hating others. I would say that each novel in Martin's trilogy would make a great movie, but I often find movies based on great novels disappointing, and Martin's novels are superior reads. Only a great movie maker would be up to this challenge; still I would suggest reading the novels first. They are pure pleasure.

  8. The Warsaw Conspiracy is an uplifting tale of a very moral and patriotic early 19th century Polish family living under the subjugation of Russian domination. Martin keeps the dramatic tension high throughout the novel with a budding love story set against the ever present fear of imprisonment or worse as an uprising against the oppressive Russian invaders threatens and then comes to fruition. With strong, well-painted characters that you care about, the author makes you turn each page with curiosity and concern. When the movie comes out I demand a scene where young Jozef plays Chopin's Polonaise #6 in A Flat for his fellow cadets.

  9. When substituting for Martin's senior students who were facing reading his first novel, Push Not the River, I guaranteed them that they would enjoy the book once they "got into it." Two months later, I saw them again and asked if I was right. They said, "yes." and "we think we're going to get the second book". Once they have read Against a Crimson Tide, I know they'll be back for the third novel. The newly published, Warsaw Conspiraacy lives up to my promise. Once you get through the introductory pages, you'll keep turning. You'll be kept on the edge of your seat wondering who will survive in the time of war and conspiracy. Even if you haven't read the first two novels, you can pick up this third book and be incorporated into the lives of the characters. There's just enough history to make one feel drawn to the lives that are involved in the Warsaw revolution. Martin kept me guessing until the end...always the mark of a successful book.
